NAC Elects new President

The National Association of councillors AGM has appointed a new President to the Association. Cllr Audrey Laing who represents Peterlee on Durham County Council, was elected to the role at the AGM held on 24th November 2018.

Cllr Laing replaces long standing member Cllr Harrison who has held the role for over 15 years.

On her appointment Cllr Laing said ” she was honoured to be the first woman to hold the role as national president. She paid tribute to outgoing President Cllr Harrison and his outstanding 50 years of service to local Government and the NAC.

Cllr Laing said she is looking forward to fulfilling her new role and will focus on encouraging diversity and participation across local government.

National Association of Councillors

The NAC is the only organisation whose agenda is to represent Councillors. It is the only all party voice for elected members which makes it unique in the political world.
