Welcome to the National Association of Councillors
The NAC is the only organisation whose agenda is to represent councillors. It is the only all party voice for elected members which makes it unique in the political world.
The National Association of Councillors (NAC) promotes and enhances the role of Councillors and assists them to be as effective as possible in carrying out their responsibilities.
The NAC represents Councillors at all tiers of Local Government and is a non party political organisation. The NAC is not only run for Councillors but by Councillors. One of its main activities is the provision of Conference/Training weekends and these are held in various parts of the country. Topics for Conference weekends have included Climate Change and the Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Tackling Anti Social Behaviour in the Community and Community Engagement. Inspiration for these topics comes from Councillors themselves.
Why Join the NAC?
There are many advantages to joining the NAC. All members benefit from:
- dedicated study courses in venues around the UK
- membership of a forum to discuss items of common interest and exchange information and ideas
- dedicated training and education courses
- access to campaigning to Central Government
The NAC offers bespoke Councillor training to every tier of Local Government.
Over the past few years the NAC has developed an exciting and innovative training programme aimed at new and existing Councillors.
Ward surgeries and resident engagement
Clearly, the Government’s advice makes it impossible for councillors’ normal surgeries to continue in their current format. As noted, all councillors should follow the guidance
NAC attend Political and Constitutional Reform Committee (House of Commons)
Committee argues power and finance must go together if local government is to meet the needs of local people.
